About the webinar

There are societal and cultural expectations that often dictate how artwork should look or sound like. The norms around bodies, ability, movement, and temporality can act as barriers towards disabled, deaf or neurodivergent groups of people. These expectations and norms also extend to schools and educational practices. In this context, the arts can act as a bridge and mend gaps in society.

In the webinar you will be introduced to a series of accessibility exercises. The exercises are designed as invitations to think and wonder about artistic practices in new inclusive ways. They are tools to develop artwork in relation to accessibility, inclusion, and participation.

The webinar is intended for artists, art educators and cultural workers.

During the webinar we will:

  • share research-based insights on how to make art encounters more inclusive
  • present accessibility exercises
  • test a selection of the accessibility exercises
  • discuss and share experiences
